How to Keep Your Value High in Dating
Nov 26, 2024I want to talk about something that’s really important if you’re dating – how to keep your value high. It might sound a bit serious, but don’t worry, I’ll keep it simple!
What’s SMV?
SMV stands for Sexual Market Value, but that’s just a fancy way of saying how attractive you seem to others. In dating, it’s helpful to have a high SMV so that the person you’re with really values you. But if you show certain behaviors, it can lower your SMV, which can make the other person lose interest. So, here’s what NOT to do to keep your value high:
-
Don’t Chase Too Much After Getting Close When you get close to someone, it’s okay to check in, like making sure they got home safe. But avoid immediately planning the next date. If you keep chasing them right away, it might make you seem like you don’t have other options, which lowers your value.
-
Don’t Push for a Relationship It might seem odd, but in dating, letting the other person come to you works better. If you’re always talking about wanting a relationship, it can make you seem like you’re needy or lonely. Instead, let things happen naturally.
-
Don’t Constantly Text for Attention Lots of guys make the mistake of always checking in with texts like “Hey, how are you?” or “I love you.” If you’re doing this too much, it might seem like you need reassurance. Stay calm and let them reach out too.
-
Don’t Need Extra Touch Holding hands or hugging is nice, but needing it all the time can make you seem too focused on comfort. Try not to rely on touch to feel good about yourself.
-
Don’t Always Agree with Everything If you agree with everything they say, it might seem like you don’t have your own opinions. It’s okay to say how you feel, even if they disagree! Showing confidence in your views makes you more interesting.
